AHK-CU-10
Description

AHK-Cu is the copper(II) complex of the tripeptide L-alanyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine. It is a close structural relative of GHK-Cu, the copper-binding tripeptide found in human plasma, and shares its histidine-mediated copper coordination. AHK-Cu is used in cell-culture research alongside GHK-Cu, most often in dermal fibroblast and hair-follicle dermal papilla cell models.

Each vial contains 10 mg of lyophilized AHK-Cu.

Note: AHK-Cu is for research use only. Not for human consumption.

AHK-Cu Mechanism of Action (Based on Research)

Copper Delivery and Coordination Chemistry

Like GHK-Cu, the peptide chelates copper(II) through the histidine imidazole and the N-terminal amine. Research on the complex focuses on how peptide-bound copper is presented to cultured cells compared with free copper salts.

Dermal Papilla Cell Studies

Published in vitro work characterizes changes in proliferation markers and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in cultured dermal papilla cells exposed to AHK-Cu, which is the observation most associated with the compound.

Fibroblast and Extracellular Matrix Models

Fibroblast cultures are used to compare AHK-Cu with GHK-Cu on extracellular-matrix gene expression, providing a structure-activity comparison between the two copper tripeptides.

AHK-Cu Research Applications

AHK-Cu is used in copper-peptide structure-activity studies, dermal papilla and fibroblast cell-culture models, and as a comparator to GHK-Cu in extracellular-matrix research.
